Move Toward Kinship Together with a FREE 11-Session Facilitator Guide for Groups, Circles, and Collectives

The Vision

The teachings of Breaking Up with the Patriarchy come alive through shared witness and collective practice. This guide provides a structured pathway for book clubs, therapy groups, activist circles, and retreats to move through the work of decolonizing our lives in community.

What’s Inside the Guide

Developed by Susan L. Herrmann, PhD, this 26-page curriculum facilitates a deep-dive journey through the book’s central themes. Each of the 11 sessions—one for every chapter—is designed for a 90-minute to 2-hour experience.

Session Framework

  • Opening & Centering: Practices to ground the group and set a shared intention.
  • Discussion Prompts: Questions to explore how patriarchal “operating systems” shape our thoughts and choices.
  • Experiential Practices: Embodied exercises including “Naming an -ism,” “Hugging a Tree,” and “The Prism of Self”.
  • Worldview Integration: Practical application of Four Arrows’ Worldview Chart to recognize Dominator vs. Kinship behavioral precepts.
  • Facilitator Notes: Specific guidance on creating safe containers, honoring silence, and navigating strong emotions.
